Hello all :-)
I recently set up a HTPC to display on a 50" Phillips Plasma
I am using a DVI to HDMI adapter to pass the video through an HDMI capable Onkyo amplifier, (we use the amp to switch inputs to the Plasma from a PS3 our Skybox, a DVD player and the HTPC)
Generally everything works well, I worked out early on that the Plasma did not support the HTPC's default resolutions so set things up using a 17" CRT and changed the Plasma to the Main monitor and the CRT as a clone in the display settings. we are using a Readon 3870 with the latest (last weeks) catalyst bundle
Both screens display the Plasma palatable resolution 1360x768 well until we want to switch the Plasma to standby or off while the HTPC is still running (say while we are recording TV or using the FM tuner on the HTPC), when we do that the HTPC switches the display resolution to 1024x768 which isn't supported by the Plasma, requiring it to be changed manually. The display driver Moves the Plasma to the disabled monitors list.
I tried removing the CRT altogether but had the same issue when the Plasma was put in standby.
As I'd love to pull the plug on the CRT and free up the chair it sits on by the HTPC, I was hopping someone might have an idea on how I can force the default resolution to 1360x768 or persuade Vista to leave the display settings as I set them when the Plasma is powered down or the amp is switched.
many thanks Tim
