We have typically always purchased Sony when it comes to TV or Stereo equipment, although my current TV is an LG branded one.  I am wondering how good Veon TV's from The Warehouse are, as they are priced pretty good, i.e. I can get a somewhat bigger Veon HD Smart TV for a little less the a slightly smaller Sony equivalent.  Just feedback from anyone who has used Veon would be great, even better if you can compare it to Sony or LG or Panasonic.

I cannot give you an expert analysis but I can offer a user experience. We have had a 50 inch Sony Bravia for a few years now. Picture quality and dependability are excellent, no issues, but the user interface is stupid and clunky and the 'smart' features are a ridiculous waste of space. Can't really comment on the audio since we never use it. This goes straight to our home theatre system.

 

So the Sony is a good set quality-wise but not one I would buy again. 

 

I also have a 42 inch Veon. I mainly bought it to use as an HDMI monitor. Audio is atrocious, but Veons are known for that. At the very least you need a soundbar. For the rest, it is the best value for money I have ever had. Picture quality is good and I have had no issues with the set, except for the very minor one that I turn it off at night by cutting the power and sometimes it comes back on in standby mode, so I have to switch it on a second time with the remote. It doesn't do this all the time, though.

 

Other than that, I have no complaints at all, but like I say, I have only used it as a monitor. These days, though, that is probably how most TVs are used since the content mainly comes from STBs and other devices. When I upgrade the Sony, I will very likely get a Veon. Some purists who are into HDR or 4K or whatever may balk at this, but for our purposes the Veon seems perfectly adequate and a lot cheaper.

Have you read the Veon tv thread about 4 posts down? Seen pretty full of feedback to me.
