I've just rebuilt  media pc I'm planning to use to run a mediaportal client on, but I can't seem to find any drivers for the standard microsoft remote receiver. It's in device manager, but I can't get the drivers working. I'm xp home with sp3.

I thought it was working fine before.. appreciate if anyone else has fixed this?

Cheers!

With XP you will need to have MCE installation. Because the driver is in MCE installation, and with updates available to download from Windows Update.

Have you had this unit working under XP before or is it a new remote? The new MCE remotes are Vista only and clearly say on the box and manual that they are a Vista MCE remote. If you do have one of these units they will not function under XP as their are no drivers available.

nah i've definitely had it working before, it's one of the original backlit official MS ones.. and it was working with media portal just fine before the rebuild...

perhaps I was running media center edition, but i doubt it... so there's simply no drivers for xp then?

I'm positive XP has the drivers built in.

Thanks everyone for the help, seems this forum may have thrown some light on the issue. Will report back tomorrow after I've tried it out..

OK, so got it sorted, followed the instructions here : http://www.pcalchemy.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=26

Basically just unpacked the irbus files from the mce 2005 disc. Hooray.
