I am upgrading our older oled tv to a newer 4k model and I would like some advice please. I want to go with LG as that is my preferred choice (Ties in with my LG sound bar) (sway me if you can) and I am looking at these two models.

Am I right in thinking the Harvey Norman one is the new model ?? C8 over B8 this all gets confusing.

We just got the LG C8 65" and holy balls it is awesome. Wish we had upgraded to OLED sooner.

My understand of the C8 vs B8 is just the processor. The C8 has the newer/more powerful processor for dealing with HDR and the likes (i am no expert on the topic).

The built-in LG apps are awesome. It has let me do away with the Raspberry Pi (by moving media management to Plex instead of Kodi), and also the Chromecast because Spotify/Youtube are built in (as well as Netflix et al).

The only problem I have now is my network storage is too slow to play a 4K 10-Bit movie haha.

And I am so impatient, I have purchased the  LG E8 65 , there was a floor one for $4700, sticker price was $5800 so I guess I got a bargain ??

As eracode said it’s academic since you have already purchased it.

The E has exactly the same screen and processor as the C just a nicer ‘floating frame’ design. And possibly slightly better speakers (not important since you have a sound bar ).

When you say floor model, do you mean their demonstration model? If so it may have been running every day for the last 9 months. In that case I wouldn’t expect them to have sold it as new. If they have, I would be casting a very critical eye over it, looking particularly for any signs of burn in from them either displaying
lots of sport with banners, or pillar box movies.

Sorry yes was demo model, I made sure to check and total power on time is 300 hours everything looks perfect from what I can see. Yes its just a nicer looking model with built in sound bar however yes using my own.

Great model the E8. As long as theres no issues with burn in from being a demo you will be fine. Also check for vertical banding...noticed in certain brighter or darker scenes. I paid the same price for a new C7 a year ago so congrats. I purchased mine from JB Hifi and they tossed in an extra couple of years JB Warranty on top for good measure. Awesome TVs...especially for watching Dolby Vision UHD Discs...WOW!!!!!!.

I thought vertical banding in OLEDs only showed up in near-black content, I wouldn't expect to ever see it bright scenes. I have two C8s and they both exhibit some degree of vertical banding, it's just the nature of the technology and I think you are extremely lucky if you get an OLED that has none. That said it can vary greatly from set to set. My two cents: if you don't notice it in normal viewing then it's not bad enough to be concerned about.

Along with the better processor I believe the C8 and E8 also have a newer/better panel than the B8.

EDIT: Or is the OLED65B8STB a newer variant as the stand looks different to the OLED65B8 listed on the NZ site?

Today I decided to upgrade my sound bar to something of substance I settled on the LG SKY 10 , Holy sh*t what a difference.

https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/tv-and-audio/audio/blu-ray-and-home-theatre/sound-bars/lg-5.1-channel-soundbar-wireless-subwoofer.html

I am by no means an audiophile but this is night and day compared to my other one I had. Would recommend this bar no problems at all.

Just waiting on the new cabinet to arrive as other one although is ok is really only designed for a 55" and not 65"
