Hi every 1 .. Iv just joined this forum in the hope to getsome help from you clever beggers.

Iv got a LG flatscreen monitor/tv which I have currently have a sky box,PC and ps2 connected to. Problem is iv tried adding a vcr into the loop so i can record sky programs but I must be connecting it all wrong because I cant get it all to work as 1.

Can any 1 offer any help as to what would be the correct way to connect these 4 devices to my monitor/tv please?

Can you be a bit more specific with what you are trying to do?

My first question is why aren't you recording directly to the HD of your PC? i.e. why bother with the VCR at all unless you already have videos you wish to watch.

Hello

I wasn't aware that it was possible to record the programmes that I'm watching on to my PC's harddrive.I can't watch sky and use the pc at the same time so I am not sure how that would be possible ?

I currently have a sky box connected via a scart lead to the back of the Monitor(this is the only scart connection on the monitor),I have got the pc connected to the monitor in the usual way and iv got a ps2 connected to av2 via the 3 (white,red,yellow) phono leads on the monitor.

On my main tv I have a sky + box so I can record programmes any time but on this box I have no recording device hence wanting to use a vcr in the loop.

Iv tried to add the vcr before but I get interference or maybe cross channels when I turn it on.

Im sure there is a simple answer on how to connect it all properly or maybe some peice of kit that does allow my to watch and record sky via my Power Cinema on my computer?

You need to install a tv tuner card into your pc. An analogue card is all you need - something like a PVR150. You then run the RCAs from your sky box to the tuner card.

The software that comes with your card should be enough to watch and record from sky.

Now if you want to start getting trickier and have an EPG (electronic programme guide) and IR Blaster to automatically change the channels on the sky box, you will need to do a bit more reading on this site. There are many different media packages to choose from including XP MCE2005, Vista MCE, Media Portal, GB-PVR etc.

Not really an HTPC topic. You may have more luck in the Home Theatre Forum....
However, firstly just exactly what connections do you have on the back of your TV? From what you have written you have Scart, PC, and at least one set of composite (yellow and red and white) connections.
If there is another composite in connection on the TV connect the VCR to that and then connect the VCR to the Sky VCR(scart) socket using a scart to composite lead.
If you only have one set of composite connections on the TV then go SKY--Scart/composite--VCR--composite/scart--TV.
