Hey Guys,

First post here, moved over from UK not too long ago. Been browsing the site for a while and there seems be a lot of knowledgable guys around

Had HD installed yesterday, install went fine but Lip Sync is ********* appaling

I know they have had the same problem in UK with pace, samsung and thompson boxes.

I've connected via optical to Samsung ht-x250 Home theater then to Samsung la40r8bx 40" lcd

Anyone have a fix as adjusting the delay in the sky menu doesn't work. Waste of time gettin it if can't be sorted.

Ok, from my observation if you dont want lipsync issues definitely avoid Samsung. There seems to be real issues with some digital displays and Samsung seem to be top of that heap. Sky as with every broadcaster on the planet have to tie sound and vision together. There are mechanisims in the DVB transport to ensure this happens. From my observation with all manner of displays this seems to be working just dandy.

However there is a small number of displays that dont compensate for the many frame delay processing those displays invoke, hence often a problem. I suggest if you have a problem with lip sync you take the issue up with the manufacturer, as by all my observations the transmissions are pretty well in sync.

The delay fuction on the hdi box worked fine for me. Played the audio from the TV and Home theater together untill there was no differnce between them. Samsung LCD (LA46M8)via HDMI , Pioneer AMP( Ax4ASi) via coax

Unfortuntely staying away from samsung isn't an option as i've obviously spent my hard earned $$$ on them.

if i don't connect via optical and just run l/r audio to the ht as i am with my current digital box will this solve the problem.

can i set hdmi audio off and just have stereeo sound?

sorry for being a pain, i'm away for the week so can't try it til i get back on sun.

The delay in the HDi is across all channnels

so if i was to take tv and ht back to noel leeming and convince them (through samsung) to let me change what would you choose

i paid $2200 for samsung la40r8bx lcd and $630 for samsung ht-x250

obviously wouldn't go antwhere near samsung

any suggestions?

Have not noticed any differnce between channels or audio formats(PCM stereo or Dolby Digital) coming from the sky box. The delay fuction worked fine on the coax digtal output.

So why dont you adjust the the AV audio sync on the home theater unit? To match the slow TV responce time. Then the DVD and the HDi sound will match the TV image.

I would have thought that is you add delay it would be for all audio inputs and the internal DVD. Should give you up to 300ms of delay. Dont get confused with the delay for the rear speakers tho. Had a quick google, look on page 52 of the manual. Or look in the audio menu, I think the option is at the bottom of that menu. Have a go see if it works?!

for me setting the SPDIF delay to 30 ms in Audio and Language Setttings worked fine for me.

Re-set the Audio delay to 0ms on my reciever and adjusted Sky Audio delay to 30ms. Thanks, it works a treat.

Makes the experience heaps better the audio is sorted. (and the wife id happy)
