Hi all,

Im looking at building an HTPC (VMC or MediaPortal to be decided yet).

Is it easy / hard to receive both tuners channels?  i.e TV1-3 from freeview HD, and the rest from sky?

Are there any major limitations that cannot be overcome?

A little off-topic, can the terrestrial freeview aerial send its signal down the same coax from the sky dish and split before the HTPC? i.e to save cabling from the roof / wall / ceiling again.

VMC can't support Freeview HD so you can sure that out.

To get sky on a HTPC you either get the svideo input and  then just setup a 'Svideo' channel, then just grab the sky box and flick channels, or you map each sky channel and make the HTPC IR blast the command to the sky box, which then changes the channel.

Alternatively a nicer method is sticking your Sky smartcard into your HTPC so you have a direct feed off the satellite. This will give better quality than svideo input and allow multiple channel recording.

And yes i believe its possible to combine signals over coax.
