I've recently just started getting a 10 second glitch with my Sky signal on my HTPC. Previously (for the past few months), the Sky feed was working fine.

I'm running DVBViewer Pro v3.9.4.0, DVBSBridge for DVBViewer 1.0, a Jaycar smartcard reader, and a (legal) 45XX Sky Smart Card. Running Vista Media Centre with TV Pack installed on a fresh Vista install. NDScam 0.0.0.7.

A reboot of my HTPC tends to remove the 10 second glitch for a short while then it returns. I've put my Sky Card back in the Sky STB overnight and that has not made a difference.

My Sky signal into VMC has never been 100% stable, and I'm seriously getting to the point where I'm considering getting MySky and scrapping my HTPC. The only thing is that I've spent so much time and money on my HTPC it would be a shame to dump it.

Has anyone got any ideas on why I might be experiencing the 10 second glitch? I thought this issue only occurred with 17XX cards.

I saw the 10 second glitch with a 45xx card and the Infinity reader ... my Jaycar reader works fine ...

When you reboot and don't get the glitch, what does the NDSCam log say about the DCW time? Does it deteriorate as the glitch occurs?

Some people have reported setting the CMD value so a value greater than 12 helped, for me it didn't make any difference.

It could also have been provoked by an OS update, eg Vista SP1.

Are you still using the USB Serial cable or did you end up getting a direct connect serial cable ot the motherboard header?

I'm now using 3.9.4, with DVBSBridge 1.0, with NDSCam 0.0.7 so I can rule out any Vista patch related issues.

I remember reading somewhere that the guys who were having issue with the Infinity reader were USB timing related. If your using a USB based serial port this is the first place I would look, something may have been patched at OS level which has created a timing issue. If so $7 of bits from Jaycar will fix the issue.

I've got a serial header cable. Nothing else has changed other than I'm not using a licenced version of DVBSBridge rather than the trial version.

I'm at a loss.

Ok I eliminated the 10 second glitch by uninstalling DVBSBridge for DVBViewer, DVBViewer, SoftCSA, and NDSCam, and installing everything again from scratch.

But DVBSBridge is still dropping the signal every so often. Still frustrating as hell, but at least it is now watchable again.

I have the same thing with the Infinity USB card reader. I couldn't get past it and lost interest in it (and the media centre). Turns out the wife has already told her parents they can have our HD Recorder so now I have to find a solution.

I had chosen MediaPortal, but it seem that you guys are having better luck with DVS Bridge... is that the general consensus? Should I look at migrating?

Hi, I was getting that issue and changed my com port from the default com2 to com6 and tweaked some of the com port settings settings and it works 100% now
