Anyone know if this card would work for HD with hardware acceleration?

I would not think so. What are you putting it in? People do not seem to have much luck even with AGP cards so PCI I would expect to be even less likely to work.

Also I would think that if the PC only has PCI slots then the rest of the PC will not be up to the task either.

Yes, I tend to agree. Just interesting that the specs seem to indicate that HD playback would be "no problems"

Hi Hasso,

yeah...na ....I wouldnt count on it. I have just sold my 2400 PRO (Asus) because no matter what I did I could not get HW accel working, regardless of the guff I was lead to believe reading the HD2400 'specs'.

New nvidia 9600GT arrived this morning (Asus, EN9600GT Silent) ...so looking forward to seeing IT PERFORM.....!!!

cheers

i got mine working, but it didn't have enough horses for 1080i, tv1 & tv2 were great, tv3 just feel apart, like 1 frame every 10secs.

What was your CPU usage?
I got mine 'working' also, including tv3 1080i ...but was using 70-80% CPU ...not the ATI's GPU (hardware accel)... so no good

yeah thats not working. - oh or maybe a slow cpu...

I was looking inside the catalyst control center, i think its called the overdrive or something, it has a GPU usage meter, before i got it working it was on like 20-30%, afterwards on tv3 it was 99% tv1+tv2 were at like 70-80%

When its working cpu usage was below 20%, when its wasn't usage was between 50-90, the cpu is powerful enough to decode it, but kinda defeats the purpose...

running a intel 2160 1.8Ghz daul core.

i was sad.
