Hi all - still trying to get my head around the whole video upscaling thing with DVDs, etc.  I have a large number of DVD's which I now watch on my TV through my VMC - is there any way to get a VMC upconverting the video at all for use on an HDTV?

Not to forget the xvids....

I don't believe there is any easy way within VMC.

FFDshow does a good job upscaling but I don't believe that can be inserted as a directshow filter after the Microsoft MPEG2 codec and using FFDshow as the default video codec under VMC caused issues when I played with it.

If you use FFDshow there are plenty of other programs that will let you use it as the default video codec such as Zoomplayer and that works well.

Try the Media Control plugin which I have linked above.  Although I am not currently using it I had it working with ffdshow to upscale DVDs & Live TV.

Ffdshow should work in VMC for avi's without any tweaking or plugins.  Just turn on the OSD to make sure it's working
