Hi there,
I need some help. I have recently bought a V series Sony Bravia and thought I might as well get the cheap PS3 offered via redemption. Now I've caught the bug and next step is a decent home theatre system. I'm no expert here and don't really want to shell out over a grand for a setup - especially when most have an upscaling DVD player which I don't need cos I have the PS3.... Any suggestions? Im thinking a Sony cos of the Bravia Sync option but open to any ideas...
How about this one: http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/49b06523007a23342742c0a87f3b06b1/Product/View/AE7988

The system you've linked to has a DVD player built in.

Ideally you'd want to just get a sound system, in my opinion.

Sticking with Sony, I'd look at say:

The PS3 outputs LPCM sound from bluray discs, so you want something that can accept this in my opinion.  That's half the reason of going to bluray, one for the picture improvements, and one for the sound improvements too.

Look under the specs of any model you're looking at to see if it can do LPCM under Decoding Formats section.  Costs a bit more than your budget, but long term I think you'd be happy with something that can give you the best from your PS3.  Otherwise you'll be stuck with DVD quality sound which may be fine for you anyway  Well that's my 2c.
