Hi all, does anyone have a functioning method to convert W7 MCE H264 files to something else? Now that I've started to accumulate a few recordings really want to squash them down a bit, and haven't yet come across a tool to do this. Also need to burn one of the recordings to DVD...

From my research so far I've found:
- Can't convert H264 .wtv files to dvr-ms using the MS built-in tool (as dvr-ms doesn't support H264 contents)
- Can't use the built-in burn to dvd tool on H264 files, it says they are an unsupported format
- Many tools out there to work with dvr-ms/wtv files, but they all rely on them containing a MPEG2 stream

Any suggestions?

I need a solution for this problem too... 6GB an hour is a rather hefty video file...

So far I've found that there is a beta of VideoRedo due shortly that should allow the editing of wtv files containing H264 streams. Not sure if it will allow export to another format, but at least it is a start in trimming these files down to size!

Anybody else got any ideas - or are there just not that many W7 DVB-T users out there?

I have just bought a 1TB drive and am going to try and wait for solutions. The problems with any third party software may also occur because of NZ's different audio stream. I am still looking for a solution to be able to play .ts files recorded in MP with W7MC (get video but no sound).

@Antzzz - where did you get the information on VideoReDo. I sent them an example of our HD material (at their request) some time ago but heard nothing back.

I can see from a quick scan of their forums that they are about to beta a release of their next version, which has 264 support.

Everyone in NZ who want to edit their DVB-T .WTV files is hanging out for the ability to do this. The next release of VideoReDo may offer this.

As per what Mr Gadget said above, there's been a thread about this in their forums that has been going for a while. Hopefully if they received your HD stuff then it might actually work with our wierdo audio setup...

Need to work out how to get into the beta program, looks like you have to be a paid-up user to get access to it. Which is a pity as while I don't mind paying, I want to know for sure that it actually does work with our odd-ball H264 setup before parting with any cash!
