Great, so how long before my newly bought 1.3 receiver is as obsolete as my 1.1 receiver is?

The difference between 1.3 and 1.1 isn't anything of any merit unless both ends support it and you've got _really_ good gear. 1.4 is going to be a nightmare, several (4?) different types of cables depending on desired function is going to be pain.

But again, you'd need to buy a new receiver, new TV and new whatever-else in order to benefit from it.

Monster cable will be loving it!

Maybe not as much as you would think. Saw on AudioEnz that at least for their higher end cables that have a guarantee against technology updates ie. they will replace your 1.3 HDMI spec cable for free to 1.4 HDMI spec cableCool Bet you wish you had spent that $300 on a 1 metre HDMI cable now!!... ah no I think not.

I'll stick with the TradeMe $9.95 HDMI rather than the $300 odd Monster ones :p
