I am a Panasonic Fanatic. I have a 2 TVs, 2 DVD players, home theatre system, still camera, camcorder, heat pump, and cordless telephone all from Panasonic.

However, I am beginning to doubt the quality of the lasers in their DVD players. My first DVD player is a DMR E55 During playback, it began to freeze and become pixelated after 45 minutes to an hour of starting a DVD. This happened 3 months after the warranty had expired. I then bought the second DVD player, DMR EH57. This is only 18 months old and has started to give the same trouble.

I am looking to buy a Blu Ray player but was doubtful whether to buy another Panasonic. Not sure if their lasers are of good quality.

Anyone else have similar problems?
Any views MR. Panasonic?

As was replied by Panasonic in the Audio Enz forums you should talk to Panasonic about it.

I have had the same problem with all optical drives - crap on the lens and crap on the hub will cause issues - the hub particually as playback gets to the outer edge of the disc.

If you havent either cleaned the player yourself or taken it somewhere to get cleaned then you cant really blame the brand for your problems.

Although in saying that I have never cleaned any of my DVD players and never had any playback issues other than really scratched DVD's that my kids use.
