Happily using mediaportal 1.02 and my Hauppauge remote but I have this annoying shutdown issue:
Repeated quick pressing of the forwrd arrow sometimes casues mediaportal to exit and the PC to shutdown. Not all the time but enough to be annoying. Have tried filtering double clicks and slowing the speed down in configuration but no joy

Seems to be a full shutdown, not s3 or S4.
Anyone esle got this problem or a solution.

Having played about lots my only answer seems to be to buy a microsoft mouse and plug that in. Seems a shame when the Hauppauge does everything else fine.

Thanks

Have you double-checked the remote area of MP config to make certain there are no duplicate mappings of the problematic button?

Also, have you checked the MP forums?

Yep - MP forum were a blank - I'll post there soon as well.
Bloody ok button triggered a shutdown tonight.
The only reference I have ever seen was a fact ehome may be involved the one time I ever found the issue repeated owhen I googled it.

Oh - running MP 1.02 on vista 32 bit with a Nova 500 T

It sounds to me like there is some sort of interference between the IR sensor and the software reading what the IR sensor is sending. Is there any chance you can try a new/borrowed sensor for a period of time?

I can't remember (read: don't know) if Hauppauge needs separate drivers for the remote/IR sensor part to be installed to run but if they do, an update/reinstall could be a good idea. Perhaps a rollback to an older version if you're using the latest drivers to see if that helps. Perhaps even if they don't have separate drivers a reinstall of the drivers for the TV card couldn't hurt.

Can you temporarily remap the FF to a button you don't use until you sort the issue. Could save the aggro of an uninticipated shutdown, especially if you are recording something important.

Believ me shutdowns during recording are annoying. Since it seems to be more than just the FF button it does lead me to agree it is the sensor or the4 drivers.
Currently what I am doing is:
1) updated drivers - well reinstalled them anyway.
2) increased the delay time in the .ini file to 50 (this alone did not help)
3) disabled the case power buttons in Vista power management options.

Unfortuately I don't know anyone with a spare sensor - if you are in Dunedin and want to lend me one for a week let me know.

Will see how this goes
