The AC to 8VDC power adapter on my Logitech Harmony 1000i IR remote has failed. No blue led on the charging cradle, no voltage when checked with a multimeter.  While I chase logitech, both directly and through the retailer, for a replacement, I thought I would ask a couple of questions of GZers in case I can't find an exact replacement.

Does anyone know of a NZ source of a regulated 230VAC to 8VDC adapter (500mA)?

The charging cradle is placarded IN: 8V 500mA   OUT: 6V 500mA.  I am not expert in electronics at all but I am wondering if the cradle will regulate to 6V if the input is close to but not exactly 8V.  I ask because adapters with outputs of 7.5 or 9 VDC are readily available.

For what it's worth I had to get a replacement DC adapter recently and Jaycar had exactly what I needed. DSE didn't do anything that could provide the required 3A current. Might be worth giving Jaycar a call and asking them. HTH

Yep, unfortunately Jaycar's adapters don't do 8VDC (7.5 and 9V being the closest). Still waiting to hear from Logitech.
If I have no joy I may try using a 8V voltage regulator on an IC board and feed it with 9 or 12VDC and feed the output to the charging cradle.
Logitech's distributor in NZ doesn't seem to carry any spare parts. Makes me wonder what happens when the rechargeable batteries in the logitech remotes wear out. I'm reluctant to throw out a $800 dollar remote for the want of a $50 spare part. (Remedies under the CGA more likely).

Edit.  The retailer I bought the remote from originally have been helpful and they are assisting in dealing with Logitech.  I'm using the remote sparingly while I find a solution.  At least with the logitech programming online I won't lose everything if the battery does go flat.
