I have a couple of mpg files from HD sources, I can get the video playing fine, but there is no audio (probably dts or ac3).

I am on Windows 7 x64 using CCCP codec pack, which uses FFDaudio for ac3/dts decoding. When I check the file with gspot or avicodec, nothing comes up on the audio stream... I am not sure if it is corrupted or not, because I got this from a friend who was encoding this for ps3. I also have a ps3 but I am unclear as to how to get files bigger than 4GB onto a FAT32 partition.

Update: I used PS3 Media Server to pass the file through lan and confirmed that the audio is present (not corrupted) and my amp says that it is DTS 3/2.1.

Use Graphedit to confirm you are actually accessing the codecs properly (there a number of posts on how to use it here). Also, try GOM player; this uses its own codecs -ah, but maybe not the H264 video: can't remember. If you are only having issues with a couple of media files, I could suggest there is a codec concern. As I don't use W7, can't comment on how the OS utilises codecs.

Possibly, you don't have the right codec installed on your PC after re-reading your post. Use above to diagnose.

Installing some of the most of the more common codec packs on Windows 7 does nothing more than trash your system for you. Formats such as H.264, AAC etc are all supported internally so there is no requirement for any external codecs. Uninstalling the codec packs won't necessarily fix the issue either as they can mess up your DirectShow merits.

Did you try playing the file in Medias Media Player before you installed the codec pack?

Turns out I was wrong, the audo track was not ac3. I have some similar mpg videos, those with ac3 audio play fine, but I am having trouble with the PCM ones (analysed with MediaInfo). I have tried different filters without much help. Also the PCM audio track is not displayed in Graphedit either.

I have not tried playing these videos before installing codec pack since I have always used CCCP. I am reformatting soon, so I may try getting it to work from a clean state, but I think it has to do with the codec or filters.
