They have a lot of good details there until Monday. Very cheap external storage ($166 for 1TB or something?, I'll try catch the radio ad when it's on next).

How much are these usually (say compared to Trademe) and when you say 1.3b - is there a newer format imminently due or already out?

I don't have an HDMI compatible display so I'm very n00b when it comes to these things. However I will inevitably acquire an HDMI display at some time in the near future.

Also do you know how long the $7 cables are?

1.4 is the new 'standard'...
But the 1.3b's will probably be fine with 1.4 gear (of which I am yet to see).
The difference is -
For the cable to be rated 1.4, it needs to be tested to the 1.4 spec.
The 1.3b cable may well reach the 1.4 level in the test, but as it's probably old stock, it won't have been tested.

As an aside, are they the thin Pudney 1 metre cables?

Can't answer that one sorry

Well on the original sticker, it said $129,  but I have my doubts about that being right.  On TM, the price I have seen for similar is approx $16

The cable is 1.5m

@Dunnersfella Yes they are Pudney. Not sure if they are "thin" bur they don't seem to be flimsy. Just a standard cable. Nothing flash.

Is there something wrong with those Pudneys.

Nothing wrong with Pudney at all.
They do have the 'thin' black cables that are 1 metre, as well as those with a thicker rubber sheath (better for wall mount jobs as they're less likely to twist / kink). Of course, both should give identical performance signal wise :)

What was the reason you were asking about the cables and if they were the "thin 1m ones"?

I know it was out of interest, but any specific reason?

I didn't end up buying. I got a very lukewarm feeling about the prices on offer and there were like 4 unopened boxes of those HDMI cables (marked with an "original price" of $129.99 - good God).

I am sure we will see them destined for McLaggan Street in the end so no hurry.

The sale was pretty poor effort. Either the prices weren't particularly hot or people are really still in recession mode because there was SO much unsold stock for "Dunedin's biggest ever clearance sale" on Monday afternoon at 5pm (6pm close, final of 3 days for the sale).

I'm looking for a 2 metre cable for my DVDR, and was wondering what one they were.
They're not on the Pudney website...
http://www.premiumgold.co.nz/v-902.html
But yeah, a 1.5 metre Pudney cable for $129.99 strikes me as taking the piss a bit! If they were the thin ones, then I know they would have been fabricating the RRP price, but I guess they could have easily (at one point), managed to sell one of the burlier 1.5 metre cables for that price.

What do you class as thin? At a guess it was at least 6-8mm thick. Hardly heavy duty but not flimsy.

LOL that was IN FACT the very thing I was looking at when I was typing but post but didn't want to use the analogy in case you didn't know how thin they were! Laughing

No they were much thicker than that Smile
