Hi Guys,

I just brought a new Sony EX5/55 LCD TV and went to plug in my PS3 through HDMI but nothing is coming up on the HDMI Channel.

The PS3 was previously setup on a Sony 32" X series TV without any issues and I even reset the display setting for the PS3.

Cant for the life of me figure out why it's not work...

Did you have the Sony X Series set up via HDMI? Or was it connected via component?
If so, you'll need to connect the PS3 to the new EX5 via component, then plug in your HDMI... then delve into the menu and change the video / audio output to HDMI.
Once you've done that, pull out the component cables and you're done.

thanks for the repsonse dunnersfella.

the ps3 was setup on the x series via hdmi aswell. but i know some tv's have issues with it so i reset the display settings (by holding the power button down when i turned the ps3 on to reset them) and that didnt work either :(

This could be the infamous Sony hdmi hand shake problem, which is only fixed by replacing a board in the tv, can you try another hdmi device with the Tv?

Also try all hdmi inputs.
Reset Tv settings.

Do you get a message in the top left corner of your tv when you turn the ps3 on, ie 576p or 720p?

mean, got it to work.

had to plug in the old av multi plug and even then the hdmi cable only worked in port 4.

once i set the ps3 correctly i could plug it back into port 1.

im happy, finally have gt5 cranking on the 55" :D

Mode : Game/Standard
Backlight : Optimize to your lighting environment
Picture or Contrast : 90
Brightness : 50
Color : 50
Hue : 0
Color Temperature : Neutral
Sharpness : 10
Noise Reduction : Off
Motionflow : Off
CineMotion/Film mode : Off
Advanced Settings : Off
Adv. Constrast Enhancer : Off
Gamma : -1
LED Dynamic Control : Off
Auto Light Limiter : Off
Clear White : Off
Live Colour : Off
White Balance : 0

Hope you find this setting works well for you, it's recommended by Sony / GT5's creators.
