I have just upgraded my computer and receiver but can't seem to get any sound out of it through my receiver (pioneer 1019ah) have turned kurolink off and chnaged the dvr input to hdmi one and the audio to optical 2, but i get nothing, the green bar on the sound manager in the control panel on my computer moves up and down but i can't manage to get any sound out.

have got my xbox 360 and sky to work perfect, but my computer is really starting to give me a headache...

any suggestions would be really appreciated!

The pc's sound is set to the optical output(default)? Right click speaker on task-bar >playback devices>click on digital sound output option(what ever it is) >set as default. Restart pc. See if it works.

I'm not suggesting that there is a correlation between the problem that you are having and the one I experienced, but I too had the same problem with an Asus board.

No matter what I tried, I could not get sound out of the S/PDIF interface. It turned out to be a faulty board which I ended up swapping for a Gigabyte board.

I wouldn't rule the above out?

Thanks, yeah I was wondering that, but fortunately that was not the problem.

The problem basically was an out of date nvidia graphics card driver. I used a hdmi cable to connect to my receiver and had gone through the settings and disabled the audio through the hdmi cable, but the card thought it would still try send it through the hdmi cable which basically confused itself and the receiver and the blank audio signal it transmitted prevailed. After updating the drivers and reselecting the disable audio through hdmi option i got sound, hurrah!
