Hi,

Anyone know where I could get a custom-made AV cable? I want a 2.5mm Stereo Jack to 3 x RCA AV Cable. I can't seem to find one anywhere... hard enough trying to find suppliers of the same but with 3.5mm jack.

I have one already which received with product, but want another so that I can have them both connected at the same time.

Aren't 3.5mm jacks only stereo capable? what would the 3rd rca plug be used for?

Nope, I have one on my Panasonic DV Camera and my Sony Laptop both for AV output: 3.5mm jack to 3 x RCA... the 3rd RCA is the video.

You could make one of those - spare parts, cheap parts DSE and Jaycar (Browse Products -> Plugs and Sockets -> ? [2.5mm only has stereo connections that would not be suitable for Video+Stereo Audio] )

Could you use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter like this?

There is a cheaper version of the 3.5mm to RCA one as well.

I agree, $50 for a adapter is a bit excessive.

If the adaptor has 3 stripes I could but only has 2.

Stripes on jack:
1 = mono
2 = stereo
3 = stereo + video

A = left (mono)
B = right (stereo)
C = video
D = return

...?

The 3.5mm plugs actually have 3 rings + tip which are Audio L, Audio R, Video + Common Ground.

Normal 3.5mm audio plugs only have 2 rings + tip for Audio L, Audio R and Ground.

There are plenty of places selling iPod Video cables which are the same configuration, you can probably pick one of those up for $25 or so and I believe Surplustronics in Auckland had 2.5mm -> 3.5mm adapters for 4 pin plugs (I am positive I saw them when I was up there late last year). It might pay to give them a ring anyway, if anybody would have the exact cable you want it would be them!

You could also try ringing Panasonic NZ and see if they'll give you a part number so you can get your local Panasonic dealer to order you one?

I can make you up a lead for a nominal cost,

If you can solder, the 2.5mm 4 "band" plugs are avail from jaycar, then a cable and RCA's are all that's needed.

NOTE>>> the plug above may have flange area that is too large for the plug to insert properly, The plug can be chopped apart , soldered to then heatshrink use to insulate/cover.
