Hi guys,

I'm helping someone to purchase a 46 inch TV within the next couple of days.
Unfortunately I don't have as much time to research as I'd like because I'm leaving the city soon :/

I was very impressed with the new Sony 55HX820, but apparently there is no stock of the 46 inch version of this TV anywhere for a while.

The Sony 46EX720 looks to be a nice set which looks like it meets our requirements (set out below).

If there is any reason that we shouldnt purchase this set of if anyone has any suggestions about other models which can be considered, I'd be very grateful.

Regards,
OmniouS

Important:

Good Picture quality for both SD and Full HD content. Content willl be a mixture of freeview, sky digital, mysky hdi for the world cup ;)
Good motion processing (mainly for sports)
Good UI/remote/user experience

Not as important;
 - 3D capability
 - other features eg skype, web browser, movie player etc.

Other considerations:

 - There is plenty of bright natural light in the room
 - Flexible on price

I'd go for it.
I recently purchased a Sony 32EX72 and I'm rapt with it.
There's an awful lot of functions available so took quite me a while to set up to my requirements.
One thing I do particularly like is that 5.1 sound fed to the TV via HDMI is passed through and output via the TV's optical out. This is real handy as my Media Player outputs 5.1 via HDMI but only downmix stereo via it's optical output.

For a bright room, that's a good choice.
Just make sure you're happy with the sound first though - as many LED's take audio performanc out of the process in favor of a slim design. If you're running through a home theatre amp, you should be okay though.

As an aside, if you are running an amp, what type?

Thanks for the responses - They helped make the decision easier ;)

We ended up purchasing this TV. My friends were so happy with it that they just swapped to the same model 55". Everything is set up nicely via a Logitech Harmony Remote to make operation of all components nice and easy. Mysky is on its way to replace standard sky digital.

They aren't using a decent amp unfortunately. They are using a 5.1 mini-system that is a few years old and soon to be replaced with a decent receiver & speaker setup. The TV is able to output analog sound through the headphone jack with a settings change, so they are using that for now.

Cheers

Hi there,
I just installed a house lot of the SONY ex520, really nice interface, looks good - great internet features, was sick of the integration issues with the other major brands.  the ex520 not 3d, ex720 is 3d with better refresh rate, more coin though.

Have they fixed the slow menu issue on the ex520? The ex400/500 are painfully slow!
