I've got an Android TV box that I picked up in Hong Kong a month or so back. It's basically a mini-PC - I've been pretty impressed with it.

It can be flaky when playing 1080p MKV files though - even 720p files struggle sometimes. Would pay to ask the question before you grab one.

Other than that - I think they're great little units.

Sounds interesting. Do you have a Geniatech box or another brand? Care to share the hardware specs?

Cool, so you've got an ARM Cortex A8 based system which would explain the HD choppiness. The Geniatech one is running an A9, so HD playback should be much better.
I just realised that their top-end box comes with a DVB-T tuner and a HDD, which begs the question how long before someone writes a PVR app for these boxes.

Yes, its native capabilities are very limited.

Video: Mpeg2, H.264, VC-1 1080P

Audio: Mp3, Wma, Ogg, Wave

But it's android, so what's stopping the user from getting an app to play anything they want, besides having a clunky interface?

First shipment is due into NZ mid June.

About the High end model with DVB-T... apparently there are still a few issues with the units stability & that is why I have opted not to bring this unit in just yet...

Over all these units are pretty neat... particularly Angry Birds on the big screen.

Hi KiiWiiiTech.. will you be supplying sources for the GPL based software on the box on day one.

Please think about your answer if you are going to say no and what implications it has on you actually selling them.

Hi LennonNZ... All sources for the GPL based software will be loaded on the units from day one, these will be listed under legal information which is very easy to find via the main menu.
