Well, Ive bitten the bullet and gonna have a crack at getting sky up and running thru the HTPC via a card reader (legally of course)

However, having a play with DVBLink and TV source and I just cannot get any channels in tvsource. I have the LNB settings correct, but signal strength and qualit are zilch. Same settings in MC and I can pick up all channels off D1.
I have Server installed, rebooted, installed source, rebooted. Read the how to docs and how tos on about 5 different sites, and it should come up. But on Optus D1 - nothing.
What have I missed?

Have you got the correct headend settings for your LNB (I had this same issue)
I ended up with:
Diseqc = None;
LNB Type = KU-Linear (Universal);
LOF1 = 10750000;
LOF2 = 10750000;
LOF SW = N/A;
Provider = Optus D1 (160);

Also it may pay to check your 1600.ini as well
