I found this Home Theatre in the cupboards aparently it wasn't been used. So i took it out but I am stuck as it seems to have a different plug. This is a Mizuda 5.1 Theatre System, however it doesnt seem to have any support manuals online or anywhere. I wondered if anyone knew what type of plug this is?

Are you referring to the 5 point connectors with a bit of red/orange on them?

These could be 5.0 speaker connectors - I've seen similar connectors with just the bare speaker cable plugged in here, with positive and negative points. But then again, I have not seen many systems, so it could be something else.

The VGA looking one I assume? I dont know but Logitech uses something awfully similar looking for their PC speakers for the speaker module that controls volume, bass and handles headphones and audio in

looks to be rs-232/serial based more than vga, if thats what hes looking at...

It's a DB9M socket presumably for RS232 connection. Don't know for what use though.

I still cant see what the writing is next to that VGA plug - what does it say.....

I fact the first picture of the front may show us.
Does the that centre speaker on the top have a VGA plug? - sort of looks like one.

I'm with BiGGLZ. It looks very much like an old RS-232 DB9 connector in which case it won't of any use for you at all. You definitely won't be able to plug your DVD player into it... even with a converter! :-)

It is probably just a control channel for some custom thing that they have. The data is probably only running at 9600 bps or similar.

You can get component to VGA converters
Have a look on jaycar.co.nz and you will find some.
Dont know how the audio would have been handled though - VGA never normally handled audio - just video as far as I know.

As mentioned - 9 pin serial.

More than likely for remote control or similar, a lot of systems have/had them to enable integration with controllers or even just other devices.

You won't be able to plug in any standard sources (analog or digital into that).
