Hi all.

I've been waiting for LV Martin to put either the Sony HX910 or Panasonic EH65 on special and they've gone and marked them both down by $200, so I'm definately going to make a purchase this week.

The problem is I can't decide which is the best option.

I find the idea of recording at the highest possible quality off Sky (RGB) very appealing, which the Sony offers.  On the other hand, the Panasonic offers HDMI upscaling, and as my plasma is a Panasonic HD Viera it's a fully compatible product, offering unified control of both the TV and the recorder.

Also, I'm not entirely clear on this, but I assume I could watch Sky via the DVD recorder/HDMI output with upscaling even if I was not recording.

Lastly, with Sky upgrading stbs to component, it seems I could choose between upscaled SVideo (via the panasonic) or component via the TV.

At this stage, I'm leaning towards the Panasonic.

Does anyone have an informed opinion on this?  Is upscaling noticably better, or is it just a gimick?
