I dowlnoaded and burned this today, then discovered that the update just hung. A google search of the message onscreen led me to discover that for some reason, the Panasonic BR players don't play nice when it comes to firmware upgrades with CDs burnt by IMGBURN. I had no way of knowing this in advance, of course.

The instructions for burning the firmware to CD say:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The firmware update disc requires to be created with ISO9660 format. In case you are creating the disc on a Windows Vista PC, Windows Vista standard writing application does NOT support ISO9660 format. Please create with a supporting writing software.

When using writing software, please follow the operating instructions provided for the writing software. Please be aware that "packet-writing" is not supported.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm running Win 7 64 Pro, will its default writer meet the requirements above? If not, can anyone recommend an app that will?

Is the player bricked?
Or can you plug it into the network via Cat5 and run the firmware update?

It's odd. Many users reported no problems with ImgBurn but said that the stock Win7 burner wouldn't work. In desperation, I tried it, and it worked fine, so I have a safely updated player. Laughing

Burning a disc with Win 7 doesn't work.
I burnt a copy with Nero 8 and updated with no problem.

That's been the common experience - everyone said "it won't work with Win 7", but for me, it did. Go figure?!
