Just thought I would post this for any others who have installed Win8 CP and are interested in getting the Big Screen EPG to work.

Version 10a that I use installed fine, and runs through an import fine, but nothing shows up in Media Center.

I found this blog entry from Niall the other day saying that he has only just got it to work, and will release something soon.

i own a copy of BSEPG, but when i built the Win8 CP box, i just stuck EPGcollector on it and left BSEPG off as EPGCollector pushes the EPG straight into MC. what advantage is there in running BSEPG?

Did the EPG Collector direct import to MC on Win 8 work OK? I don't have a box to test it on.

And which version of EPG Collector are you using?

Doesn't BSEPG download thumbnails of shows / movies and also more info about them?

Hmm kinda disappointed with Media Center as at least at this stage it is identical. I thought they might bring the look in line with everything else.

Wow I never even thought to check the new WMC! Sad to hear it's identical to 7, though 7 was a pretty good evolution from XP and Vista.

I first starting using EPG collector when these features weren't available, and I have only been updating for break-fix reasons. I didn't even know that the newer versions had the ability to import to 7MC! Will try this out - thanks Regs!

The fact that 8MC is identical to 7MC seems to be good for those who want to upgrade as it will most likely be an easier path, but it would be nice to see a shift towards the newer interface. They have changed everything else to the new UI. Maybe it will come out when it is released?

I would also like to see is a better connection with the extenders. In Win7, it takes about a minute to to connect from the xbox360.

yeah, you're right.  i'm not seeing all the thumbnails with just EPGCollector.

yep, all worked perfectly.  grabbed the latest version off the site the other day - 3.1 - and installed it.

For those who are new to it....:
Ran EPG Centre
File/Create Collection Parameters
chose "New Zealand - Terrestrial Freeview - Auckland"
left the Area at default of "Auckland - Infill" (i point at skytower)
checked the "import the data to Windows Media Centre directly" checkbox (output tab)
start scan (channel scan on channels tab)
then ran the collection (Run menu, collect epg data)
