dhazen: Am I missing something? is there some reason why http://www.haventech.co.nz/epg/  doesn't do the job? It works great for me (but perhaps my requirement is small enough for an easy match) ?

Haventech's listings seem to stop dead on the 26th of this month.

I've been happily using the gonzo guide and haventech since I built my media center 3 years ago.  VERY antsy about getting in there and messing with settings now.  *sigh*  Stupid sky.

Well that's probably because people insist on continuing to post his link here and thereby making it so much easier for Sky to find it and issue a takedown notice!

Sorry this has peed me off as I just wish people would *think* given Sky's recent actions...

The EPG Collector project needs some more testers.

EPG Collector is a Windows app (XP/Vista/W7 32/64 bit) that creates am XMLTV format file from the EPG data broadcast by Freeview (satellite or terrestrial) or Sky.

It can handle either EIT data or the newer MHEG format.

We currently have about 30-40 regular users with various configurations of tuner who use a mixture of media players (MC, MP etc).

Almost all of the current users access the MHEG EPG from Freeview so we need some people who will run with the Sky EPG.

This project is being actively worked on and plugins for the popular media players are in the pipeline to make the collection seamless.

The thread for this project is at MHEG5 EPG Data grabber.

The software can be found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/epgcollector/

Any help appreciated.

Steve

Thre is a ReadMe in the installation file and in the zip.

Setting up the ini file for Sky collection is a bit of a pain at the moment but we are working on a GUI to make it easier. And you only have to do it once.

Has anybody tried to offer them free advertising - banners and links and stuff - on these sites in exchange for allowing the epg?

Yep, their lawyers too...and they'll be billing Sky....  Best to keep the lawyers busy?
