why do you need big screen epg if you are using epg collector? that can import directly into WMC7

Thanks Reven, I did not know that, I was following one of the guides and it said i needed an importer program. ill have another go when i get home.

So what the benefits of Bigscreen EPG because it seems to be mentioned often?

BSEPG has a lot of options and imports extra online data to the guide like cover images for shows. It's definitely a good program but is just a nice-to-have really as you can get by without it. If you can justify the cost for more options and a somewhat richer guide experience then get it. I'm using it to combine online and OTA epg data

My channel logos 2 only costs a few bucks and is worth the purchase IMO. Very easy to change many of the aspects of the guide like increasing/decreasing the number of rows and columns, changing column widths and of course adding logos

epg collector importing directly into WMC7 is a semi new feature, so thats probably why you see it mentioned all the time. or if people are doing some more complex with the EPG feed (combining multiple sources, supplementing it with thetvdb/themoviedb data etc).

I shot home for lunch and got the EPG and bought MCL2 working and that looks cool.

I get the odd instance where the picture is garbled or some times stutters but I need to do some more testing to work out why

im using the 460w one in my server/tv server, which is i5 3.3ghz, 16gb ram, 120gb ssd hdd, 2tb hdd, 4xdvb-s2 pci-e capture card, dvb-t usb win-nova-t something, dvd drive, onboard hdmi/sound. runs good, powers everything.

your cpu might be overkill, unless you are planning on transcoding videos for the xbox, which is highly likely given the limited number of codecs they can play.

also you should checkout xbmc pvr branch, its free and worth a play, very similar to media center, but with the added bonus of thin clients (raspberrypi for example, for $55). it wont work with your xbox 360 however, but still worth checking out (wont hurt)

Hey Reven, I've been eyeing that PSU (the 460W version) for some time now.

Tell me, does it seem to generate much heat that you can tell? I also run a fanless GPU so am a little worried about the amount of heat in the case.

the PSU doesn't generate heat in the case bc the airflow of a fanless psu's (and most psu's) doesn't exhaust into the case. Fanless PSU are only good in some cases as they need a specific airflow. Generally your not supposed to put a fanless psu in a bottom mounted position as it wont get enough airflow.
