Of course... the point is around whether the act considers the replacement to be 6 months old already, or new.

I consider it the latter:

so you will still have all the rights you're entitled to when buying a brand new machine.

Where a consumer obtains goods to replace rejected goods pursuant to subsection (1)(b), the replacement goods shall, for the purposes of this Act, be deemed to be supplied by the supplier, and the guarantees and obligations arising under this Act consequent upon a supply of goods to a consumer shall apply to the replacement goods.

"The guarantees & obligations arising under the act shall apply to the replacement goods." <- When you buy a TV it is guaranteed to last a reasonable period of time eg. 10 years from purchase this expectation is applied to the replacement.

I too agree with you mjb. However if they just fix the TV as it looks in my case I suppose this wouldn't apply.

So after some time and thanks to Harvey Norman, Samsung are comming to the party for the full cost of the repair, So I was well worth getting Harvey Norman involved, big ups to them. Got the TV back now, look brilliant, like brand new again, well a new Panel at least. Thanks for the feedback

the moral of the story should be, buy a high end panasonic... not a samsung, they break down way too much

So about 6 months after having the initial issue with the TV and Samsung replacing the panel in the tv the issue is slowly starting to come back Sigh! Now what, I suppose its back to Harvey Norman again! Has anyone else with this series TV had any similar issues?
