33coupe: Sorry to bring up an old thread (although must be better than starting a new thread?)
Toshiba 42hl800az
Onkyo NR515
Sony Blu Ray S1100
Finally the inlaws have upgraded to MySky!
Now I have had a search but am unsure if the HDMI from sky box to - receiver to - tv will now pass 5.1 audio? Or do they have to buy a optical or coax cable from sky to receiver? (and maybe from receiver to tv?)
They have also invested in a Sony BDPS1100 Blu Ray player connected via HDMI. The manual doesnt say if an Digital Coax cable is required for 5.1? I'm assuming it
Lastly, can the sky remote be used as a tv remote (to change volume)? As currently there is one volume for the tv, and a different volume for the sky?
Sorry for the basic questions.
Thanks

I don't know about the HDMI out on MySky but I would expect it to carry 5.1 sound. Try it and see I guess.
The BluRay should definitely pass surround sound although you may have to check in the setup menu if it set for surround or downmix.
As for the sound level, I just leave my Sky at max vol and use the amplifier vol control to control the sound though I do use a Harmony remote. If using the TV remote just leave Sky at max vol. I have never understood why Sky has vol control on the box. Better to use a set level and control from external equipment.
