i've got one of those toshibas.

bd picture quality is good.

dvd playback is mediocre.

media file compatibility is hit and miss.

sound quality across all formats is a bit strident.

overall an average bdp whose main strength is ready bd multi-region capability.

I got the a Panasonic DMP BD77 Blu ray player before Christmas for $89. I thnk they can be had for $100. I took it to a service agent who made it DVD multizone for free. No way, that I know of, too make it Blur Ray multizone. I haven't played a heap of formats on it. But it managed to play back ome AVIs and MKVs with no issues. If there's a specific file type you want me to try, if I have it, I'll give it a go.
There is some sort of DLNA support from playing off a network, but I haven't bothered looking at it that side of things as I was gievn a WDTV live which plays off the network shares super easy.
