Initially planning to wire the floor standers first.

I had a look at the Pudney speaker wires at BOND + BOND and were on a special 30% discount.
But its annoying that its quoted in metric. I need to do the conversion.
Might drop in on Sunday and ask for a further discount.

I wouldn't wait until Sunday as they are closed for Easter, Monday will be your last day as they will then close their doors for good.

Deev8: Homeplugs - I can't comment directly on performance of Netgear AV500 units, but I do use Netcomm 200 Mbps rated units. They give me sustained data transfer rates of better than 80 Mbps and that is good enough to stream uncompressed Freeview HD TV recordings. Based on that experience, providing your home electrical wiring is in good condition, music and compressed video files shouldn't be a problem for AV500 units.

He's probably got the NP204's. I tested a pair a while ago and with the really poor wiring at the house I was in, they were useless, I struggled to get 20mbps through them which seemed to stem from >1% packet loss. The person I borrowed them from said they were good for 85mbps at his place so it just depends.

I'd buy them from a place like Dick Smith (if they even sell them) as they offer full money back on just about everything.

For what it's worth I've got a pair of Yamaha NS777's, they look awesome in the piano black finish and produce pretty good sound for the price.

So far I have seen AV200 ones in Harvey Norman and GlobalPC.
No AV500 and 4 port ones. Dragon PC have them on the website but no stock for CHCH.

Nice buy on the Yamaha NS777. How much did you pay for them and where did you get them?
I might look this up as a future upgrade of my floor standers NS F150.

What gauge speaker wires do you use for the fronts?

I really wanted to get the KEF Q700's but would have needed a good sub. I found the 777's going for $800 on TM, so figured I'd just go with them and worry about a sub later as the dual 8" drivers do pretty well.

I bi-wired them using 14 gauge wire, but that's TOTAL overkill given the runs were only 2m :)

When it comes to sizing up what wire you need don't follow what I did, read this: http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm you probably don't need as fancy/thick wire as you think.
