As usual poor old NZ is behind again - Panasonic in Australia has released DMR-BWT820 and in April will be releasing the DMR-BWT835 http://www.panasonic.com.au/Products/DVD+and+Blu-ray/Blu-ray+-+players+and+recorders/DMR-BWT835/Overview The only thing that is really missing is a browser and an iDevice or bluetooth keyboard connectivity..

Probably not really very far behind.
The BWT720 has been around for 2 years in May. The only difference I can see with the BWT820 is a larger HDD and maybe a couple of new functions.
We must be due for release of new models very soon.

Thanks for all the replies guys - Even though we will not be returning till May 2014 this is the early planning & researching stage. I have already posted a different post in the New Zealand Broadband forum concerning Kiwi communications services etc. My partner & I have always been early planners. (we are usually the first to arrive at a party

). We have even started putting out preliminary CV's and job feelers. We know a lot can change in a year but forewarned is forearmed

OK - I have noticed that Panasonic has released the DMR-BWT835 Full-HD 3D Blu-ray Disc™ Recorder 1TB HDD into NZ.

Been reading very mixed reviews. What are forum members thoughts on this device?

I will more than likely be teaming it up with a Panasonic Smart TV (3D not necessary) around the 50" size. Would like to be able to connect to my Apple Home Network system to play movies from iTunes. Any recommendations?

I will be connecting to my exsisting NON HDMI Home Theatre 6:1 which I may/or not replace later on.

Noticed nobody has any opinions concerning DMR-BWT835 Full-HD 3D Blu-ray Disc™ Recorder 1TB HDD.

Reading the spec's it only mentions Windows stuff. As I am a totally Apple household:

it this product DLNA compatible with an Apple network?
NTFS/ FAT32 format external hard disk drives - will it work on Mac OS Extended (Journaled) drives?
can it hook (networked) into my Mac iTunes - music, movies etc - using iTunes codec's/formats.
do you have to use their 'optioned up' web cam for Skype? - I have a Liquid Crystal aGent V5 Venus USB 2 cam.
is this device DVD region free or at least region switchable for Blueray?
if not region free then hackable via a remote control code?

1. Not sure but I thought DLNA is DLNA and works with anything DLNA capable.
5. Not region free when purchased but take it to any authorised Panasonic repair agent with your receipt and they will region free the DVD at no charge. I've had 4 done and only takes a minute. They charge it back to Panasonic. Blu Ray is Zone 2 and can't be changed.
6. It is done with a specific remote control, not a Panasonic one.
As for the other points I have no idea as I don't use Apple.
