chiefie:It'll probably be much easier to set up an US iTunes account, get US iTunes gift cards credited and sing up to Netflix/Hulu via this US iTunes account as subscription and you don't have to muck around with specific Netflix/Hulu accounts and billings.

I've got a US account. Can I credit it through itunes? Or do I need to go to one of those sites that sell US itunes cards?

geekiegeek: looks really easy and cool I must say. Anyone tried it with an ATV that users a VPN to get to Netflix and Hulu?

I'm still awaiting on my AirNZ OneSmart card to authorize so I can use it for Hulu, but Netflix works great. For me, video loads a lot faster on the ATV than my other media player.

Using Unblock US.

I signed up to Hulu about 2 weeks a go with a ANZ credit card. I don't think they check any more.

Wife cut up the credit card that I subscribe to Netflix with, so can't test that out Frown

My Visa debit definitely doesn't work though.

...sorry, getting a bit off topic.

Anyone found that after a while the PlexConnect DNS server will just crash?

Normally after extended periods where the Apple TV is idle. I thought it was to do with the Movies box on the main screen (the pictures that appear up the top), but after hiding those it still seems to do it.

I signed up to Hulu THROUGH the Apple TV. Billing then is tied to your iTunes Account. No credit card required.

Are you on the latest PlexConnect build?

No, not the absolute latest.  Was on a pretty early one, it did it, upgraded and it still seemed to.  Will have to upgrade again.

I ran into a problem where Netflix would'nt play any content. Couldn't figure out a solution, so completely uninstalled and installed again and started to work. Might be worth trying out if it still doesn't work after a git pull.

I thought about getting into the dnsmasq on my router and pointing only trailers.apple.com at my plexconnect machine.  But I haven't reached that point yet.

I setup Plexconnect and PMS on the weekend and imported all my video files.

So far, so good, very nice slick interface on the ATV and it has played everything I have thrown at it so far (except Video_TS, which Plex wont do anyway, ATV or no ATV). I am converting the DVD vobs I want to keep now.

For a newly released product, it is great, and I can see it only getting better. As I said, so long as Apple do not break it by changing something on the ATV.

Handle9: Just a quick update. I've been running this for about a week now and IMO this is the best plex front end I've used.

I've always been a bit frustrated with Plexbmc on the ATV as it was as bit of a dog with UI performance and did often have some playback issues. Plexconnect has solved a lot of my frustration and I'm very pleased.

I've setup a ghost exe to launch the python script on boot (well 10 seconds after boot to allow plex to load first) so it's seamless and has a high WAF.

Hi Handle9, can you explain the ghost exe for running the python script on bootup. I just have a shortcut to the .py file in my startup folder, but would love it to be hidden (so the terminal window is not showing all the time and won't get closed by mistake).

I wrote a batch file to launch the script with a 30 second delay to allow the plex server to boot and my PC to go through it's startup sequence. Once that was all working sweet I ran the .bat through Advanced BAT to EXE Converter 2.82. Once of the options is to have the .exe run as invisible.

Then just dropped a shortcut to the .exe into my Startup folder and Bob's your mothers brother.
