Some of the android media apps that I tried crashed with no error reports, and eventually I found bug discussions suggesting the apps could not handle the high resolution. I could not test the suggestions of setting the tv to a lower res cos my samsung did not give me any options there. So I guess you need a combination of good hardware and good software to get a successful experience with an android media player.
All the apps I tried worked on mine, but with its low ram and slow CPU so many were unusable on it.
Also I would frequently turn the tv on and find the stick was just sitting at the android animation, not even booting till I powercycled it. Never had it crash much on me in use, but I only used it for light use since video playback on it was full of judder and framedrop.
