Just as a warning, don't anyone buy this item on trademe if you are wanting a splitter for your sat install:

the picture in the auction clearly shows a Hills 5-2400MHz splitter but the auction details list a 5-1000MHz range which I didnt notice for some reason.... i'm trying to get my money back....

Good, just wanted to check :)

Will head back to Mastertrade tomorrow or during the weekend. Couldn't find the right plug, mind you, there were so many. Saved the pic from freeviewshop onto my phone and will try again.

erm, so i have something like this from Corys (cost me a whole $1 or something)

shoud I be able to screw this straight on, or do I need to undo something on the end where the Sky cable is connected? Sorry to sound like a complete n00b, but these things don't come with instructions!

I would have suggested that you unscrew the other connector and replace with this but it looks like the other connector is crimped on so you'll probably have to cut it off, strip cable and then screw on the terminator.

This F-type plug is designed for terminating an F-type female wall outlet, i.e., it doesn't attach directly to any cable by crimping or screwing. Use an F-type joiner http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/f-type-inline-adaptor-femalefemale-p-107.html to connect to cable.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

thanks guys, that makes sense.

Having a think about it, it looks like that end would fit on a Sky decoder or something. I'll have a hunt for a joiner at Corys next week.

:edit: i see Dick Smith sell the same thing too

Hi been away for a long weekend at Taupo, but yes the termination is the correct, one, however to attach it to the cable you showed previously you will need a F barrel, this is the same as what a wall plate has, once again they can be purchased from Corys/Mastertrade et el.

Good to hear, the problem with reflections on a line, is that it is frequency selective, so some transponders may be effected and others not. In a splitter system the reflections are well suppressed by the splitter loss, but can still have an unexpected results depending on the cable lengths. So best to terminate and mitigate the problem rather than have unexpected results.
