The current epg available for Tivo in NZ (not XMLTVNZ) is awesome and worth checking out. It's worked flawlessly for me for over a year (when I first got a Tivo) thanks to the fantastic Tivo community in NZ and OZ.
Looking over the NZ Tivo site you highlighted, it seems to me that there really isn't much difference between a Tivo and a MySky box - so if you have a MySky already then there's not much gain. Of course, if you do not have a MySky the Tivo option is surely cheaper (well marginally $580 against $599).
Are there any other compelling reasons to use Tivo (other than the more reliable EPG)?
Well you can import a Tivo from the US incredibly cheaply nowadays especially with the exchange rate the way it is. The cost indicators on nztivo are somewhat outdated too, you could get a 250gb Tivo up and running for around $300 NZD which is considerably less than mysky. Also, Tivo has wishlist (keyword) recording which I don't believe mysky has. You can run a webserver on the Tivo so you can access it from the internet. You can stream recorded shows our download them to your PC. Tivo is albe to control any STB via infrared blaster so can be used with SKY, Telstra, Freeview etc.
I'm babbling now, I just love my Tivo it's absolutely brilliant. Some of my work colleagues were skepitcal when I was singing it's praises until I convinced them to get one - needless to say they are now all converts :-)
The only benefit of mysky (IMO) is the dual tuner, other than that give me Tivo any day. It's reliable, intelligent (learns what you like to watch) and the interface is very intuitive.
In saying all that I'll probably end up getting mysky version 2 purely because I want hi def - it's a shame only series 1 (standard def) Tivos work here.
