Plus, I don't think you're meant to use the normal Xbox non-HDMI adapter AND an HDMI adapter at the same time. That's why the HDMI block/lip is there in the first place - to prevent that.

I believe the audio adapters are specifically wired so an HDMI adapter can be used in conjunction with the audio outputs.

I vaguely remember reading this somewhere. Google is your friend.

Ah, that sounds like the same headset one of my son's mates had. We had to use component cables in the end. Can't remember what the make/model was.

However, I _think_ it's possible to get an adapter thingy which allows you to use both HDMI and the headset.

That would be ideal

Just search for 'xbox 360 audio adapter' on TradeMe.

Something like this:

Then just connect the HDMI cable as normal.

Cheers. Problem is the Xbox plug and hdmi don't fit together. I removed the non hdmi lip and tried another slimmer hdmi cable but still tight as

If you're talking about the 'normal' xbox plug, I don't think removing the lip works. It's still too thick.

Correct. As they don't work together, there is the lip. I will try the composite as advised here, see ow it looks, then look at the adapter, also advised here for component
