So it might be useful information to the next person to read the thread who is looking to solve a similar problem.

It may or may not be useful to the OP because they don't know exactly what signal is feeding the tv.

OK, having read all your posts, I have no idea how you are trying to connect your TV or what you are trying to feed into it.

If you want useful help, take a deep breath and describe exactly what your set up is, what is going into your hub in the garage, what is coming out of it, and how it is distributed. Then tell us what exactly you are trying to accomplish. Based on your (fairly garbled) posts to date I suspect you may have a Sky decoder connected to an RF modulator and some sort of distributor, but I'm not sure. It's hard to provide useful suggestions when we have to play guessing games as to what we are trying to help with.

so earlier today i had signal, bad qualify and when i touched the cable it got better and worse.

it could be either

1. the cable
2. the antena input on the tv

ill buy a new cable tomorrow but if its the input can i input it into avi or hdmi ?

No. You can't feed rf into A/V or HDMI.
As JimmyH says, give us some more info on your setup. We can't help unless you describe fully your installation and interconnections.

ok

i have a tv hub in the garage, sky satellite comes in. i have decoder in lounge and could watch that signal in bedroom. could use sky dish signal to activate set top box in family room.

in bedroom where i could watch sky signal (without decoder) i used to have a cable go from output on wall to tv aerial input

ok so i got a new cable from DSE and it works, found a smaller head on the connection too so it wont get bent like the old one which i think got to deteriated.

the signal still isnt clear - perhaps the signal is weak, how can i test this or is there a cheap booster around?

If it was clear it wouldn't be Sky, i.e., analog modulated RF derived from compressed to buggery mpeg2 is not nice to look at, you chose this method of distribution. If you want better use a digital technique (split HDMI and convert to DVB-T) or get another decoder.

It will be as good as you are going to get. A booster isn't going to help. Analog rf is the worst type of connection to TV for output from a Sky decoder.

You can't unless you change to Composite A/V, component or HDMI connection between the Sky box and the TV.
As I said an rf connection (modulator then co-ax) to the TV will give the worst possible picture quality.
