Just a thought tho, the same problem is happening with uncompressed bluray backups. And I'm pretty sure they are h264.

Hey timmmay,

Are you able to confirm the bitrate of the 1080p files you are able to play on the pi? Are they uncompressed bluray backups?

PANiCnz: DVB-S is mpeg2 and not MPEG4. If the licence isn't installed it will use software decoding and buffer as described.

dvbs is also not 1080i so the OP cant be using it

On most of these small systems you'll have more success with 1080p and 720p than you will 1080i. These graphic chips are not optimised for interlaced.

RickW: We're using dvb-t. I thought dvb-t was h264 I might be mistaken tho. Can anyone confirm if freview hd is mpeg2 or h264?

DVB-t in NZ is h264. I have a Pi model B handling freeview HD without breaking a sweat, so a Pi 2 should do it easily.

Handling dvb-s without issue, forgot to install codecs license until last night and can't tell the difference(if it even matters)

Ok that's interesting. Do you mind if a ask for some more info on your setup, like backend, modem and Ethernet card being used in the tv server

Finaly got it sorted.

After buying a new powersupply, new patch cable, new usb cable and a new sd card. It still wasn't working. After hours of googling I found a post saying to plug a dumb network switch into the first Ethernet port on the fritzbox and connect the pi and server through the switch. SUCCESS it's now running perfectly.

I hope this post can save someone a whole bucnch of time and troubble.
