Some great research there. Any ideas on international pricing on these boxes. It would be good to gauge what the approx NZ street price will end up being.

after some very quick googling, as far as I can tell, those STB's haven't hit the shelves yet. They are due to start being sold at the end of this month (or beginning of next month)

Thats the $64k question, but my guess is around $400, simply because they will be at a premium to SD ones, or will we see a halving of SD box prices, lets face it you can buy $60AU DVB-T SD boxs (that have a component cost no diff to DVB-S ones) in Aussie, so why are we still paying $170NZ plus?

Whoops - sorry, that seems to be for the older model.

Another nice-looking unit - seems to have been chosen by Germany and Chile:

Can't find pricing for it yet.

Will these DTBs become commodity items - or do the broadcasters lock you in with regional firmware ?

How long was the exclusive deal on boxes for, I recall it being 12 months? I refuse to believe that somebody wasn't been paid a big backhander to go with a two box exclusive.

I think certification is a good thing but hopefully others will be allowed to import boxes and even get them certified for a reasonable price.
