Wouldn't buy an LG again, light bleed, uneven light when watching the TV. Worse when watching in the dark. As for size after purchasing a led projector and 100" screen going back to our 46" TV is hard.
JimmyH: When I was replacing my dead set a few weeks ago, and doing my research, I ruled out LG sets as an option fairly early on. Two things I turned up on then while researching put me off:
the data that the sets were transmitting back to LG - channel/program watched, channel changes, and the names of any media files you played off attached USB media, and full directory listings of any USB media you connected [see Here and Here for instance]; and
reports that they were embedding advertising functionality, which let them put paid banner ads etc in menus etc.
The behavior outlined in both of these seemed pretty scummy to me, so I ruled the brand out of contention.
You'd rule out Samsung for their 'sending data to 3rd parties' then?
the 65" 4k LG was $3000 at noels today. I was sooooo tempted, but it was the disaply one and I really want to wait to see who moves to a more standard platform first before getting one since the inbuilt player will be doing most of the work.
Ive never got why smart tvs cant connect straight to IP cameras etc too. Seems totally logical to me.
