That's not unusual with Ozzy Vs NZ pricing. Cars are another example. When I was there in August I saw new Mazda 3s for $23000 incl on road costs. Here they are from $32700 plus on road costs.

I was invited to attend the LG launch at the Park Post production company here in Miramar, Wellington. We were treated to a tour of the video and audio studios, as well as to the session in the private cinema. some photos below, including one with the launch prices (you can see myself in some photos, plus @nate and @paulbrislen who were also invited):

The picture quality of these types devices is outstanding. The availability of content is not outstanding. SD and low bit rate broadcast will still look rubbish. I haven't experience Netflix 4k but with the woeful state of ISP streamING support I doubt the experience would be a pleasure. Maybe in a few years it will be worth it.

Brilliant. The director of Park Road Post showed us a few movie trailers and explained what they look for when producing a movie and how these TVs show the same picture quality as the professional monitors they use in the video production studios.

This TV passed their tests...

Good to know... when they come down in price to a point that I can afford one!

I heard someone on Nat Rad recently saying similar things; I think it was Peter Griffin - assume he was at the same event you were?

Griffin was there and I certainly mentioned it on the radio, but more from the point of view of what they told us about the future of OLEDs - flexible screens that can be used for lighting, transparent panels so any window could be a TV set or monitor...

quite remarkable really.

Couldn't tell from the media release, but are these still only available curved? I'm not really sold on curved screens. Did anybody at the presentation ask about anti burn in technology? If you are dropping $8K on one of these you wouldn't want the display marred in any way.

The 65" was $10499 at Harveys last weekend.

Great picture but for that price I can get a 4k JVC projector and black diamond projector screen that will every bit rival that TV at twice the size.
