if you want one with storage, I'll probably go a NUC or android device route. Most people tend to either stream so dont need local storage, or have a NAS setup, so also dont need local storage.
Bit of good news. As we have a Sony kdl60w850 LED TV (fairly modern), as an afterthought I tried plugging my storage USB into the TV, and it plays almost all video files on the USB except for 2! Saves me a few $$ in not needing to get something to replace the WD live.
Thanks for the advice though, it does have me wanting to shell out and get a R pi2 for the bedroom TV. Cheers
Chromecast. Definitely. Then setup a Plex server and stream from your Plex to the Chromecast. The new ones do AC wifi and will happily play a 1080p stream from the internets.
