Just picked one up tonight. Sold out at Bondbond queen street so had to get one from New Lynn on way home. Must be popular this season.

Here goes trying to programme.........

Had a look at noel leemings today and it was $150 - whats their policy on pricematching to their "Other branch"?

You can get them down to about $100 online these days for the 525 model, the newer models are still a bit darer.

PS: Guess I spoke too soon about the batteries. First set ran out last night, although ~8 months wasn't bad, and it did come with a spare pack of 4 AAA's with the remote when I bought it.

Tip for MySky + Harmony 525: To get to your list of recordings (and upcoming recordings) you press 'Guide' then scroll over to the planner. - Initially I thought I wasnt going to be able to access the planner with it, until I realised that Guide and Planner are just options in the same 'menu tree' on the MySky.

On my 525 the MySky planner comes up with the "Menu" button.

Might be a bit of a hijack - but the Foxtel version (IQ) of the MySky remote is a learning remote (they look identical) - has anyone got the MySky one to do this?

The Harmony 880 has charging base, which is great... I picked the higher-end model all for the main reason, it has 8-quick buttons for up to 8-functions to assign (on the screen); a colour screen; charging base.

I do like the look of Harmony One, may get that to replace my Harmony 880. I did look at Harmony 1000 but it's big and awkward though.

Did you ever have problems with the charging base maintaining decent contacts with the remote? I had problems with my first one so Logitech replaced it. Now having intermittent problems with this one. Having a spare decided to drop bits of solder onto the contacts on the base so that it protruded a bit more. That fixed it for me. Now I just place the charger on the base station and with no fiddling it contacts and begins charging.

Hardly soldering skills. I just got some solder, held it over each contact and hit it with the iron so that a drop of solder dropped onto the gold contact while not melting the surrounding plastic. Wasn't exactly like trying to solder surface mounted chips :)

Played around with the programming at the weekend. Still not got it quite right- The TV switches off rather when i press the PS3 activity.

I guess it doesn't know if the TV is on or off.

The biggest frustration is the programming interface. It would be good if they designed these with an advanced and beginners interface. Sometimes I want to take the motorway not the scenic route. I had put the wrong tv input into 2 activities but had to go round the houses to get to the page to update it correctly. Same thing to add another device (tought i would make sure the amp was off when i watched mysky- power saving etc)

I wonder if they test these with complete novices or if they think if you assume the worst skills of a user then at least everyone can use it.

One programme i use that does respect the user is nero. You can change from easy to advanced and all the icons change form a smiley face to one with glasses (glasses must make you smarter!!)

Since the TV is probably your anchor device, you want to go to the setting that says don't turn off device when leaving activity. For example you might have a DVD player, VCR(!) or something that are connected to the TV. When you say Play DVD the Harmony could turn on the TV, set it to the right input and turn on the DVD player. Then you want to watch a tape. The Harmony should be told not to turn off the TV but turn off the DVD player, turn on the VCR and set the TV to VCR input.

As for the PS3, since there is no way the Harmony can turn it on, I would presume turning it on should turn off all other source components (DVD etc.) but leave the TV on (if it's already on).

Take a bit of getting used to and menus are not that clear but once done, it works well.
