Go with the dreambox, i use it, it's awesome, i stream to my laptop which i can take anywhere within wifi distance and also my pc in my garage when i'm workin on 'stuff', i also steam it to my media pc for recording TV.
The dreambox is the most portable you can get, it sits where you have a cable and you can wifi it from there, you can even set it up to view over the net when your away from home.
Don't bother with the USB, the device itself may be portable but unless it's plugged into your sat dish it's no good.
To make a USB device portable you would have to have a sat cable in every room of the house, not to mention that means you have to have your laptop attached to a physical connection which kinda defeats the purpose.
I have a HP Pavilion 9088ea laptop from the UK. It came with a HP digital expresscard for tv tuning. It worked in the UK. I am using a Hauppage Nova-T-USB2 right now to test DVB-T freeview on this laptop. It is fine with all test signals and once I get a long enough cable and find the aerial cable adapter for the expresscard I will remove the nova-t and use the HP Digital (Yuan based card).
Laptop came with Core 2 T5600, 1.83Ghz, 2GB Ram, 2 x 120GB HDD, 7600GT 512MB, 17" Wide screen at 1440x900.
DVBViewer is used for tuning into the test signals along with Cyberlink H.264 codec. TV3 is in 1080, actually 1920x1088, 10.x mBit stream and it runs fine. about 50-60% CPU usage on both cores and I suspect the USB tuner is causing some of this CPU usage. TV1, 2 and anything else which are either 720 or 576 are fine using 30-40% of the cores.
I have not overclocked anything and have been running vista for about a 8 months since the last install and even though it is slowing down a lot over time once it is up and running it does the job.
When freeview is up and running I will move DVBViewer to my production Media Center (wife will not allow tinkering) running 3800+X2, 2GB Ram, 7600GT 256MB, 74GB Raptor, 250GB WD HDD, Hauppauge Nova-T-500, Vista x64. I might need to upgrade the Video card on this unit as playing 1.5GB 720p Heros HDDVD files caused a severe loss of sync with the sound and video. But I am also not 100% certain some of the codecs I have used in x64 are up to scratch.
