Heat = Noise

The quad core CPU's consume roughly twice the power of Dual Core circa 100W or so, compared to 60W for the dual core. Thats why you end up needing a 500W+ power supply.

I have used and compared the results from several PSU calculators, and it seems I am only needing 280w  (on average)

Thats including:

-Quad core 6600

-4GB ram

-Motherboard

-Blu-Ray drive

-2 hard drives

-Video card

-Tv tuner card

So I will look for a PSU around 400w to be on the safe side, and allow for possible upgrades etc
