+1 for sonos. not cheap though, i just bought a playbar, sub, and 2 play:1s package for $3500 (another $99 for playbar wall bracket). excellent sound, great software for playing music from phone/tablet.

playbars themselves are about $1350, so yeah, not a cheap option, but probably the best option (paying for quality, the sub is awesome, and the s/w is amazing)

Agreed. The other thing that impresses me with Sonos (I don't have any, but it is on the list for when my current 7 year old system needs replacing) is that they keep updating software/firmware and nothing gets left behind. If you have older gear, you still get the updates and functionality when new software comes along.

I brought a Sony HT-CT780 from JB Hifi for the Sammy in the bedroom. Absolutely love the sound and can be configured easily through the mobile app. Plays nicely with the TV remote. I paid ~$620 for it in a sale - the most accurate part I remember about the price was it being reduced by $120.

I bought and then returned a set of sonos. Despite a claim of dual band wireless, the mesh between them seemed to be unreliable 2.4GHz crap. Its been out enough I am sure someone would have reported if the mesh was insecure, but I was at least hoping for it to work.

I then got some LG ones, which are much more reliable other than some braindead things that their setup process assumes, like the new speaker you are setting up is withing RF range of others on your network, and that you will only ever have 1 of them on the wired ethernet to do the bridging - hint - 2 of them on ethernet will make a loop that makes things very unhappy. And they also crash all the time with other traffic on my network. Sync is just as bad as the sonos was, but better than 2 chromecast audio's manage to sync with each other in multiroom. Friend has the soundbar and a couple of H3s as surrounds and it works great for them.
